There was a video game podcast called Podtoid ( http://destructoid.libsyn.com/category/podcasts , though it stopped about a year ago and all the hosts migrated to a different podcast called The Electric Hydra) and they did movie commentaries of a bunch of video game movies, including the Super Mario Bros. Movie, Double Dragon, Mortal Kombat, Street Fighter, and um, Resident Evil, I think? Street Fighter is the best of them, I think. JCVD and Raul Julia are both unintentionally hilarious, and it's great seeing them trying to figure out how to get all the characters in the outfits that they wear in the game (this really happens). Mortal Kombat is fine. The Super Mario Bros movie is strange. Double Dragon is horribly bad. I didn't really pay attention to Resident Evil.
You, Joel, have comic sensibilities in line with the hosts, in my opinion.. You should "acquire" those movies in some way and watch them while listening to said podcasts. SMB was episode 148, Resident Evil was episode 123, Double Dragon was 111, Mortal Kombat was 105, Street Fighter was 95.
Furthermore, Portal is awesome, and if you can't play it yourself, you should at least watch someone else playing it.
Actually, I think everyone should go to Vegas, just once, to experience it.
While it does seem to amplify many of the worst aspects of humanity, there is also the same amplification of some of the decent parts of people.
Yes, the Strip is basically like a giant amusment park/company town, where you're supposed to stay and lose all your money. It isn't until you *dare* to leave the Strip (and Fremont Experience and downtown) that you see some different things.
But, you have to search for them, like In & Out Burger, and other things.
Good bye Podcast. You are lost but not forgotten. :C
