93-hijinks-ensue-podcast-graphic

In this episode I talk to my friends Yuri Lowenthal and Tara Platt about how they have the greatest job in the world. They are both full time professional voice actors in Hollywood, California, USA, Earth and I find everything they have to say about the world of voice over and voice acting to be COMPLETELY FASCINATING. Will you as well? Perhaps. Perhaps YES YOU WILL DEFINITELY FOR SURE!

I really enjoyed this episode, interview-style was fun. I'm a huge voice-actor nerd, drive my husband crazy with 'that's the guy in that one show, he's also in that other thing!' I also appreciated the sentiments of do the thing you love now, rather than 'wait till you're old and tired'. Good inspiration.

I loved this episode. Even though I'm not a voice over nerd, I actually found this topic super interesting. It's also funny to hear about the "Hustle" and "Going to school" for this trade, since as a Visual Effects artist we go through almost the exact same thing. We have the hustle of finding that next gig, and we have the kids who think going to school is the only way to get into this field. In fact some schools have become a factory for churning out mediocre VFX graduates (after they drop a ton of money) to the point were some VFX won't hire anyone who comes out of certain schools.

I'm surprised though that no one mentioned Petter Cullen being brought back for the Transformer movies. For a while all Transformer nerds weren't too sure who would voice Optimus Prime, then once the annoucement was made we all had a nerdgasm. I would imagine that would be a huge win for the voice acting community.

  3. I really experienced this display, interview-style was fun. I'm a large voice-actor geek, generate my spouse insane with 'that's the guy in that one display, he's also in that other thing!' I also valued the emotions of do the factor you really like now, rather than 'wait until you're old and tired'. Excellent motivation.
